ENABLING AFRICA’S INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: Challenges and Opportunities
The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), in partnership with the National Research Foundation’s Future Earth Africa Hub Leadership Centre and the Partnership for African Social and Governance Research, invites young African graduates and scholars to submit abstracts for the 19th Africa Young Graduates and Scholars Conference (AYGS 2025 Conference). The AYGS 2025 conference will be organised by the HSRC’s Africa Institute of South Africa, and the theme will focus on how the African continent can achieve inclusive and sustainable development in line with the AU Agenda 2063.
The abstract submission can be made in one of the following sub-themes:
- Governance, Peace, and Security in Enabling Africa’s Inclusive and Sustainable Development
- Sustainable Agriculture and Transformed Food Systems
- Climate Change Action and Just Transition
- Leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Drive Africa’s Development Priorities
Abstracts submission guideline
- Abstracts should be no more than 300 words long.
- Abstracts must be submitted to: https://hsrc.ac.za/aisa_aygs_2025_rsvp.php
- Draft manuscripts of accepted abstracts must be between 6000 and 8000 words.
- Applicants from Francophone Africa are highly encouraged to submit their abstracts.
- Abstract submission deadline: 16 September 2024
- Communication to shortlisted candidates: 27 September 2024
- Draft manuscript submission deadline: 20 December 2024

Please be informed that this conference has been fully funded. This means that the HSRC will cover all flight and accommodation expenses for applicants who meet the specified conditions.
