Newly curated data: South African Social Attitudes Survey (SASAS) 2020

The curated  SASAS 2020 Questionnaire 1 dataset is now available!

The South African Social Attitudes Survey (SASAS) is designed to provide a robust study on changing social attitudes and values in South Africa among different socio-demographic groups. It informs evidence-based policies through in-depth analysis of societal changes which aligns with the HSRC’s commitment to excellence in research and provide reliable, comprehensive data to support social science research and policy development in South Africa.

Conducted yearly since its inception in 2003, SASAS 2020 Q1 is the 17th round.

Topics covered in the questionnaire are: democracy and governance, national identity and pride, intergroup relations, immigrant-related attitudes and behaviour, education, moral issues, personal well being index, poverty and inequality, crime and safety, Batho Pele, voting, respondent characteristics, household characteristics, personal and household income variables.

The dataset contains 3032 cases, 454 variables and had a response rate of 86.6%.
