The Human Sciences Research Council of South Africa, together with African Sun Press, recently launched “Voices Unbound”, a wide-ranging and diverse anthology of poems drawn from the 8th International Symposium of Poetic Inquiry, which was held in South Africa in 2022.
The voices of more than a hundred poets from across the globe fly from these pages, speaking not only for themselves but also for silent minorities. They bear witness, they inspire, and they elucidate the extraordinary power of poetry and the spoken word.

The event was a memorable celebration of poets and their amazing new works, which were birthed at the Symposium. It was held at the HSRC’s new Cape Town offices, with a gorgeous opening by Malika Ndlovu and Lodi Paul, and various readings from the anthology.
