CCBR SMART Locker Arm Launch – A leap forward in medicine access for chronic disease patients

Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC)

The HSRC’s Centre for Community-Based Research (CCBR) launched Smart Locker Arm, which is one of the arms within the ongoing SMART ART research project (Sequential Multiple Assignment Randomized Trial of Scalable Interventions for ART Delivery in South Africa). The launch was held on 20 February at Vulindlela Community Hall, Msunduzi Ward 7, Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal.

The Smart Locker represents a significant advancement in healthcare delivery, especially for patients with chronic diseases in under-serviced communities. This innovative system provides a quick, efficient, and discreet method for patients to collect their medicine parcels. The Smart Locker aligns with the commitment to establish cost-effective and patient-centric solutions in healthcare.

The event featured a demonstration of the Smart Locker system; speeches and insights from the KZN Department of Health, key stakeholders, and project leaders; opportunities for media interviews and exclusive coverage; and networking sessions with healthcare professionals and community leaders.
