A global foresight report on planetary health and human wellbeing

Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC)

To help navigate current and future uncertainty and disruptive change, while effectively delivering on its mandate, UNEP has been implementing an institutionalized approach to strategic foresight and horizon scanning with the view to developing an anticipatory and future-oriented culture.

Dr Wilfred Lunga represented the HSRC and contributed to A global foresight report on planetary health and human wellbeing. He was one of the International Science Council expert members – a position he assumed since August 2023. Dr Lunga is a chief research specialist within the HSRC’s Developmental, Capable and Ethical State (DCES). His research interests include disaster risk, vulnerability reduction, climate change, indigenous knowledge, community operational research, climate change, resilience strengthening including social science, environmental science, cooperative development, as well as rural livelihood and basic social service provision and access, socioeconomic impact assessments, and monitoring and evaluation.
