The police are failing South Africans as far as safety is concerned.

This is the view of an independent crime analyst, Dr Chris De Kock – who has 20 years of experience at the Human Sciences Research Council.

He was reacting to an increased murder rate over the 2018/19 financial year on POWER Update on Thursday.

This after the police presented the annual crime statistics revealing the murder rate had seen a startling 3.4% increase.
