The 5th Gender Summit and the first to held on the African Soil was held at the ICC here in Cape Town over three days. The theme of the conference was “Poverty alleviation and economic empowerment through scientific research and innovation: better knowledge from and of Africa”. And to explain what this theme means to an ordinary person were the CEO of the HRSC, Prof. Olive Shisana, and Dr Elizabeth Pollitzer, the Director of Portia Ltd, based in the United Kingdom.
