The South African scientific medical fraternity has not only been highly regarded for some time, but has been recently praised internationally for their ability to track the novel coronavirus and detect the new SARS-CoV-2 variant; not to mention the rollout of the J&J vaccine, which highlights a well-resourced science, technology and innovation system. This isn’t the only well-developed industry, however, funding is diminishing.
