A two-part event to celebrate the Gender & Inclusivity (G&I) Project of the Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI-2) takes place in Cape Town from 13-16 February 2023.

The G&I Project is aimed at strengthening the capacities of participating Science Granting Councils (SGCs) across the African continent towards advancing gender transformation.

To this summit, we welcome representatives of SGCs from Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The three-day event kicks off with the Final Learning Summit for the SGCI-2 G&I project that ends in February 2023 and aims to showcase participating SGCs’ contributions to strengthening gender and inclusivity in their country contexts. The second part of the event is an orientation meeting for the new SGCI-2 Gender Equality & Inclusivity (GEI) Grant that will, over the next three years, focus on integrating GEI across all stages of the public funding research grant-making cycle.
