The article analyzes the dynamics of food prices, sold in various regions of Russia. For comparison, we used price monitoring data in large retail chains in 2020 and 2022. As part of the monitoring, prices were fixed for basic food products included in a balanced diet, compiled in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. The 2020 monitoring covered 77 regions, the 2022 monitoring covered 40 regions of Russia. To compare the data, observations were grouped and average inflation was calculated by product groups and federal districts. The average inflation of the recommended food basket in Russia was 61%, with significant fluctuations for various federal districts: from 43% in the North-West to 102% in the Far East.
