Calling all Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) graduates

Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC)

Exit Interview Process with the PYEI graduates

South Africa has experienced a significant rise in the number of unemployed youths. Many of these young South Africans have completed school while others have participated in post-school educational programmes and qualifications. Despite this, a number of young people remain unemployed, and many have been employed in short term work that may not yield sustainable outcomes.

The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) had partnered with the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) in Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) programme. The programme provided 1,000 unemployed graduates with training and experiential learning to improve their marketability in the labour environment and encourage social entrepreneurship.

The goal of the project was to improve the employability of the PYEI graduates in the programme. The purpose of this exit interview is to understand the value of the programme, review its impact, develop meaningful evaluation and future demand for programmes of this nature.

Your participation

We are inviting you to participate by completing a short online exit interview focusing on your experiences within the PYEI programme.

As part of your participation in this exit interview, we have made 5 prizes available in a lucky draw competition. Should you be one of the 5 lucky winners you will be contacted telephonically after 15 NOVEMBER 2022.

The exit interview is data free and would take you approximately 10 minutes to complete.
