Public protector Thuli Madonsela’s stakeholder dialogue meetings in September in Gauteng have exposed the terrible state of health services and corruption at state hospitals in the province.
At a meeting with Orange Farm residents Madonsela heard complaints about the short operating hours of local healthcare clinics, lack of funding for NGOs that specialise in helping substance abuse victims and allegations of misappropriation of funds earmarked for HIV-Aids programmes by a local NGO.
