A million more are HIV-positive

Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC)

The number of South Africans infected with HIV has risen by a million in four years.

But fewer people are dying of it.

There are now 6.4 million South Africans infected with the virus – from 5.4 million in 2008, according to the Human Sciences Research Council’s latest report.

About 4million are women and just over 2million are men.
