The volume attempts to paint an entirely new picture of SA cricket in the first five decades of the country’s existence.

Publishers Best Red, an imprint of HSRC Press, have in association with Cricket South Africa (CSA) launched the second volume of a massive new history of cricket in South Africa.

Titled ‘Divided Country’, the new book covers the period between the outbreak of World War I and 1960 and follows the first volume, ‘Cricket and Conquest’ which was published in 2016 and deals with the foundational period of the game in this country from the first references to cricket in 1795 up to World War I.

The project was the outcome of one of the resolutions of the transformation indaba in 2013 and will eventually consist of four volumes under the direction of Editor-in-Chief Professor Andre Odendaal and his fellow authors, Krish Reddy and Christopher Merrett.
