More focus must be placed on the ‘effective use’ of SA land

There’s a need for regulations around development to be streamlined.

Professor Ivan Turok, from the Human Sciences Research Council, is of the opinion that the debate around land reform has become narrow and that there are important issues that are being neglected, such as the use and development of land. While he acknowledges the importance of ownership, there are concerns around making an effective use of the land which is resulting in land grabs.
