It has been three months since the confirmation of the first known infection in South Africa and the African continent from severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (Sars-CoV-2), the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
The arrival of Sars-CoV-2 in an already burdened continent, where communicable and non-communicable diseases are endemic to certain regions, places already struggling health systems under considerable strain.
