Dr Vuyelwa Mehlomakulu received her Masters in Public Health degree and PhD in Psychiatry and Mental Health from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She is a behavioural scientist with an interest in social aspects of health. Dr Mehlomakulu spent many years primarily conducting research on the social aspects of STIs and HIV/AIDS, including second-generation HIV surveillance, stigma, discrimination, and determinants of HIV infection. She has also been involved in TB/MDR TB-related research, including TB adherence and treatment interventions. She continues to do work in the social aspects of health with the Human Sciences Research Council as a senior researcher in the Health and Wellness Division.
