Dr Nosisa Zaca
PhD Research Trainee
Dr Nosisa Zaca is a PhD Research Trainee at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) under the Africa Institute of South Africa division (AISA). She holds a PhD in Food Security and a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa. Dr Zaca also holds a Leadership in Business Certificate from the University of Nevada-Reno, United States of America. Dr Zaca is a member of the African Food Changemakers and the Golden Key International Honour Society. She is an alumna of the following programmes: the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders; the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs in Lesotho, Eswatini, and South Africa (AWE LESA); the Young African Leaders Initiative Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa (YALI RLC-SA); the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women; and the Youth Climate Champions.
Dr Zaca was part of the research team that conducted the HSRC's Multi-Country Research Study on the Transformation of Food Systems in Zambia and Tanzania, which was led by the AISA division. She has a strong background in econometrics and data analysis. Dr Zaca obtained a certificate of merit for Honours-level Econometrics and completed Masters-level Applied Econometrics at the UKZN. Her research interests include food and nutrition security, climate-smart agriculture, entrepreneurship development, agricultural and rural development, and behavioural economics.
