Mr Clement Nchabeleng
PhD Research Trainee

Mr Clement Nchabeleng is a junior researcher in the HSRCâ??s [Developmental, Capable and Ethical States (DCES) research division]. He holds a master of science degree in public policy and management from Corvinus University of Budapest (2020). He is holds BA in international relations, and BA honours in political studies from the University of Venda. [Nchabeleng] specialises in peace & security, regionalism, economic reforms and state building in Africa.

Previous and current experience and special projects:

Before joining the HSRC, Nchabeleng spent a year (2019) as a volunteer at Transparency International (Hungary) during which he conducted research analysis and drafted reviews. Also, Nchabeleng worked as an education assistant wherein he was responsible for tutoring high school pupils, mainly economics, history and social sciences.

Publications and highly relevant or major achievements/positions:

Nchabeleng is fairly new in the research field, he has been awarded the scholarship by the Department of Higher Education and Training to study his masterâ??s in 2018. Nchabeleng is currently working on 2 book chapters that will be published later this year. The two chapters are Social cohesion among South African immigrants, and South Africaâ??s just energy transition. Furthermore, Nchabeleng has a policy brief on the pipeline, which examines South Africaâ??s social security as a tool to alleviate poverty.
