Collins Chabane – HSRC expresses its condolences

The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) wishes to convey its condolences to the family of the late Minister of Public Service and Administration, Collins Chabane who passed away tragically in a vehicle accident along with his two body guards.

CEO of the HSRC, Dr Olive Shisana, indicated that his death is a huge loss to those who came to work with him on monitoring and evaluation, when he was the Minister of Monitoring and Evaluation within the Presidency from 2009 to 2014.

“He established a solid system for assessing the performance of ministers against the agreement with the head of state. He will be remembered for his willingness to amicably solve problems and for his dedication to his work,” she said.

Chair of the HSRC, Ms Nasima Badsha, expressed her condolences as well and said: “We join the nation in honouring the passing of a great politician and astute thinker and a hard worker. His contribution to taking South Africa forward will be remembered.”

Dr Shisana said that Collins Chabane’s family is in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
