World Social Science Report 2010: Knowledge Divides

19 October 2010
12:15 - 15:00

                           Date : 19 October 2010

                          Time : 12:15 – 15:00

The WSSR reviews the state of the social sciences in various parts of the world, noting their rapid expansion and globalisation. It grapples with the disparities and fragmentation in the social sciences which threaten the role of the social sciences and undermines their effectiveness in addressing global issues.

Produced by the International Social Science Council (ISSC) and co-published with UNESCO, the Report is the first comprehensive overview of the field in over a decade. Several hundred social science specialists from all over the world have contributed their expertise to the WSSR. Several spoke at the ISSC’s World Social Science Forum, held in May 2009 in Bergen, Norway. Many African scholars contributed to the production of this report including South African scholars.
