Education is a lifeline offering an unparalleled opportunity to change lives, communities, and countries. But the South African education system is in crisis and failing its children.
Despite deep inequalities, some schools are succeeding.
The Good Ones tracks the tenacious efforts of three of the country’s public
schools to change the trajectory of their students’ futures.
While sharing the challenges of the country’s unequal and broken education system – over-crowed classrooms, hungry children and lack of resources – The Good Ones beat the odds. They know their students deserve more, but they work with what they have. the film tells the stories of these schools and the principals, teachers, and students that bring them to life. Their lessons illuminate how schools can empower students, transform their futures and enable them to find their place in the outside world.
