ATLAS.ti is a computer program that supports the qualitative analysis of textual, graphical, geo, audio and video data. ATLAS.ti offers a powerful and intuitive environment for coping with the inherent complexity of the tasks and the data, that keeps you focused on the analyzed materials. The main strategic modes of operation can be termed “VISE”: Visualization, Integration, Serendipity and Exploration.

Drawing on various projects, Dr Friese will demonstrate and discuss the diversity of methodological approaches that are supported by ATLAS.ti such as interpretative analysis, content analysis, social network and mixed-methods (qualitative / quantitative) analysis. The seminar will also help you get an idea about the various types of data that can be analyzed as well as the workflow of analysis.

The primary aim of the seminar is to provide an overview of what ATLAS.ti can do and how it can be applied in social research and potentially in the types of projects you are working on.

The HSRC seminar series is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The views and opinions expressed therein as well as findings and statements of the seminar series do not necessarily represent the views of DST.
