Dr Neil Henderson (Social Work lecturer, UWC) and Prof Finn Reygan (Research Director, HSD) received funding for three years (2017-2019) from the NRF to identify care services for older LGBT persons in Gauteng and the Western Cape in South Africa. The aim of the seminar is to share the findings of the project and to propose good practice guidelines in South Africa for older LGBT people.

Dr Henderson and Jamil Khan will present on key findings from the project while two MSW students at UWC who received scholarships from the project will report on their findings. Prof Kathryn Almack from the University of Herdfortshire will present good practice guidelines identified in the UK while a representative from DSD will present on the current state of services to older people in SA. Prof Reygan will chair the seminar.
