In this roundtable discussion, researchers will share findings from a collaborative project implemented in partnership with the City of Cape Town and a local NGO between 2016 and2017.
Presentation available for download below:
A key objective of the project was to bring together city officials, community leaders and thematic experts using a Community Scorecard process to identify challenges and opportunities around electricity and water service provision in Nyanga. The ultimate goal was to experientially gain better understandings for improving City – community engagement practices.
Participants from government, NGOs, community organisations, policymakers and academia are invited to discuss:
i)The potential and challenges of collaborative projects to enhance local agency and improve governance processes (with a focus on service delivery and community engagement).
i) The role of research and knowledge hubs such as the HSRC and NGOs to strengthen collaborative research approaches (Participatory and Action Research tools) that bring together researchers, communities, NGOs and Government.
The project was funded by the Tirelo Bosha Public Service Improvement Facility of the Belgian Development Agency (BTC) and the South African Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA).
