Heritage Day, 24 September, is a Public Holiday on which South Africans across the spectrum are encouraged to celebrate their cultural heritage and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people.   • What’s Gender and Sexuality Got to Do with Diversity? Some Political, Intellectual and Practice Considerations, by Professor Vasu Reddy, Human & Social Development Research Programme, HSRC. This presentation will profile some ideas, meanings and issues related to the broad question of diversity with relation to gender and sexuality. The presentation will deal with why and how gender and sexuality issues matter when thinking about diversity in broad terms.
  • Ukulobola, by Dr Thobeka Mda, Capacity Development, HSRC. This presentation will focus on the tradition of negotiating for a bride.
  • Disability in the Workplace, by Dr Sithabile Ntombela, Human & Social Development Research Programme, HSRC. The presentation aims to raise awareness on how we people with disabilities are marginalised at work and in society at large (Disabled is not incapable: Change perceptions, increase participation of all)
