You are cordially to a seminar to be presented by Dr Nelia Steyn, Chief Research Specialist, and Dr Whadi-ah Parker, Senior Researcher, both in the Population Health, Health Systems and Innovation, HSRC, Cape Town.
The objective of the study commissioned by the HPCSA wasto evaluate dietitians competencies, experiences and challenges during the community service year and provide feedback to both training institutions and the Department of Health (DOH).
In 2003, the department implemented compulsory community service for all allied health professionals as a strategy to increase human resources in the public health sector. Seven years later, it is important to provide feedback on the successes and shortcomings of this strategy to the DOH. Furthermore it is essential for training institutions to obtain feedback on whether their degree programmes fully equip students for this community service year.
