Cabinet approved the National Evaluation Policy Framework on 23 November 2011. For the first time South Africa has a national framework for the systematic use of evaluation to learn and improve government performance, to improve accountability and decision-making. A National Evaluation Plan will be developed based on key national priorities. Six types of evaluation are defined with the roles of different actors in the process. This seminar reviews evidence-based policy-making and the potential role of evaluation as a key, and a systematic, source of evidence.
