Dr Campbell’s presentation will focus on the following:

  • Introducing caring for sick children and palliative care 
  • Challenges of researching sick children and their caregivers 
  • Opportunities in research – photography and story telling as methodologies 
  • What needs to be done further? 

Dr Laura Campbell is a medical doctor who has specialised as a family physician. She has focused on palliative care and is working towards her PhD in African palliative care. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds a Master of Family Medicine (University of KwaZulu-Natal). Dr Campbell also holds Master of Medical Science (University of KwaZulu-Natal) and Master of Philosophy Palliative Medicine (University of Cape Town). She tutors research methodology in the Department of Family Medicine at University of KwaZulu-Natal and is contracted to HSRC to develop training materials in home-based palliative care for young children.
