Time: 12:30 – 14:00
Venue: VCRs, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban
On March 24, the World marks World TB day 2015 with a renewed call to reach, treat and cure everyone with TB to accelerate progress towards eradicating the disease by 2035. Addressing TB requires inputs from all sectors including healthcare providers, civil society, communities and the private sector.
TB remains a major cause of suffering, morbidity and mortality in South Africa. It affects all members of the community including those at the forefront of providing care to TB and other patients. Drawing on her personal and organization’s experience, Dr von Delft will discuss the burden and impact of TB on healthcare workers, their families, the patients they treat and the health system. She will also discuss interventions to address shortcomings in prevention and treatment strategies both for healthcare workers and the populations they serve.
Reaching, treating and cure of all TB patients require that the patients remain in treatment for the recommended duration. Patient loss from treatment remains a significant problem in TB management and control. Dr Moyo will discuss patient loss from TB care highlighting its causes, the impact on patients and the community, and on the management and control of TB.
The seminar may be attended in Pretoria, Cape Town or Durban
