Dr. Thembinkosi Twalo is a Senior Research Specialist at the Human Sciences Research Councilâ??s (HSRC's) Research Use and Impact Assessment unit. He holds a PhD in Education with the thesis titled "Appropriateness of municipal worker's job behaviour and performance at the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality". It investigated the paradoxical co-existence of formal education with inappropriate job behaviour and performance practices at this municipality in light of the structural-functionalist assumption that formal education is a solution to societal problems. His research areas include labour (ability to work), impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation, academic performance advancement, co-operatives, linguistics, and knowledge brokering. He serves in the editorial board of Innovations in Educational Research.
Dr. Twalo studied at Fort Hare University, Rhodes University, Wits University, and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Before joining the HSRC, he worked at Vista University, Khululeka Community Education Development Centre, and Fort Hare University. He holds eighteen peer reviewed publications and two non-peer reviewed publications.
