Prof Sibusiso Sifunda, MPH, PhD, MASSAf, is a Research Director in the Public Health, Societies and Belonging (PHSB) Division at the Human Science Research Council (HSRC), Pretoria.Prior to joining the HSRC Prof Sifunda was a Chief Specialist Scientist at the Medical Research Council of South Africa (MRC). He obtained his MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, from the University of Cape Town in 2001 and later completed a PhD in Public Health from the Universiteit Maastricht, in the Netherlands in 2005. He has worked as a public health researcher in various projects in areas such as HIV/AIDS, STIs, TB prevention, Epidemiology, Implementation Science, Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences including large scale surveys such as the Youth Risk Behaviour Survey (YRBS), Prison Health Interventions, PMTCT Intervention programmes, HSRC Covid-19 surveys and other community-based health interventions. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed journal articles, books, book chapters and several conference presentations.
