Dr Nomcebo Rhulani Ubisi holds an undergraduate degree in Biology and Environmental Sciences, a Post-grad Diploma in Food Security, a Master of Agriculture in Research, and a PhD in Food security from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Dr Ubisi has gained valuable experience in conducting and managing various research projects applying qualitative and quantitative research methods covering research topics but not limited to Food Security, Poverty, Inequality, Climate Change, Smallholder Agriculture, Indigenous knowledge systems, and Geospatial analysis. She is a research ethics committee member within the HSRC and strongly believes in research that has a socio-impact on the lives of communities. She is currently a Research Specialist at the Africa Institute of South Africa (AISA) within the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), and her role includes conducting research within the African continent, research proposal writing, problem-solving, project management, and implementation, promoting and publications in peer-reviewed journals, and attending local and international conferences. Over the few years of studying, Dr Ubisi has grown as an emerging scholar and innovator providing practical research reports that aim to significantly contribute towards the National Development Plan Vision 2030 of South Africa.
