The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) invites you to a seminar on strengthening the research evaluation uptake and use of evidence in government and state-owned entities (SOEs).
This engagement is convened in partnership with the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME), the Centre for Learning on Evaluation and Results – Anglophone Africa (CLEAR-AA), and the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA).
Impact evaluation plays a vital role in evidence-based decision-making, improving programme performance, and enhancing accountability in the public sector. South Africa’s National Evaluation Policy Framework (NEPF) provides the foundation for institutionalising evaluation across all spheres of government in South Africa. As one of the country’s leading knowledge producers, the HSRC is committed to strengthening a culture of evaluation and impact within its work and across the broader monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) community.
This three-hour workshop will bring together key stakeholders to reflect, share practical approaches, and identify actions to strengthen research evaluation uptake and use of evidence in the government and SOEs.
The workshop aims to embed a stronger culture of evaluation and impact aligned with the NEPF. Specific objectives include:
• Reaffirming impact evaluation as a strategic tool for learning, accountability, and improved performance.
• Identifying barriers and enabling factors affecting impact evaluation uptake and use in the government and SOEs.
• Sharing practical approaches to strengthen demand for, quality of, and use of impact evaluation evidence.
• Clarifying HSRC’s role in supporting impact evaluation institutionalisation through research, partnerships, and knowledge translation.
We look forward to your participation.
