Ms Yamkela Majikijela
PhD Research Trainee
Developmental, Capable and Ethical State (DCES)

Miss Yamkela Majikijela is a PhD research trainee at the Peace and Sustainable Security (PASS) unit of the Developmental, Capable Ethical State (DCES) research division in the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). Yamkela holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Honours and Masters in Population Studies from the University of the Western Cape (UWC). She is currently a PhD candidate at UWC in the department of Statistics and Population Studies. She is a quantitative researcher and her research interests include demography, migration, and labour market dynamics.

Experience and special projects: Prior to working at HSRC, Yamkela worked as a DST-NRF Research Intern between 2016?2017 and as a Population Analyst Intern at the Department of Social Development between 2013-2014. Since joining the HSRC, she has worked on various projects and she has co-authored in several publications which can be followed on the HSRC website and on Research Gate
