Qualifications

Selelo Matimolane is a Research Specialist at the Human Sciences Research Council in Pretoria, South Africa. Selelo holds a Master's in Geography and Environmental Sciences from the University of Venda and a PhD in Environmental Science from North-West University. Selelo’s research focuses on climate change impact and adaptation, climate variability, and water security in semi-arid and rural contexts.

Professional Experience

Selelo is a seasoned research management professional with over 15 years of experience in research administration, capacity building, project coordination, and grant management. He has a demonstrated history of promoting research excellence by aligning funding opportunities with institutional priorities and researcher expertise. Before joining the HSRC, his previous roles include working at the University of the Witwatersrand as a Senior Faculty Research Officer and at the National Research Foundation, where Selelo served as a Programme Officer.

Publications and Research Interests

Selelo has published several peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter on topics such as drought patterns and dynamics, water access, and climate vulnerability, particularly the resilience of rural communities. His work combines empirical field studies with advanced analytical methods to inform policy and community-based adaptation strategies.
