Ms Siyasanga Qomoyi
Senior Researcher
Equitable Education and Economies

Ms Siyasanga Qomoyi is a senior researcher in the Equitable Education and Economies division, working in the Dynamics of Agrofood Systems and Innovation (DASI) group with the Socio-Dynamics of Innovation (SDI) team. She joined the HSRC in 2021 and has been working on the LIAT projects; the LIAT Communities of Practice and the Karoo Innovation Landscape Mapping project.

Ms holds a Masters qualification in Applied Development Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand, her dissertation explored fiscal policy measures that are associated with higher economic growth in South Africa, in reference to spending and taxation. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Economics from the Nelson Mandela University and an Honours degree in Political Studies and Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Western Cape. My interests are in macroeconomic policy, socio-economic development as well as economic growth.

Ms Qomoyi worked in different roles in the public and private sector. Prior to joining the HSRC she worked in management consultancy as a junior development economist and as a research assistant intern prior to that.
