Mr Jerry Mathekga

Jerry Mathekga is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (CeSTII), within the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) of South Africa, working as part of the research team that is dedicated to producing policy relevant research and statistical analysis in the domain of science, technology and innovation (STI). He graduated with a BA Degree majoring in Political Science and Industrial & Economic Sociology from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), Johannesburg, and Master?s Degree in Political Science from the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town.

Prior to joining the HSRC, Jerry worked for the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) as a Research Assistant, Committee Monitor for Parliamentary Monitoring Group (PMG), a Researcher at the University of Cape Town?s Democratic Governance & Rights unit and the University of Cape Town?s Labour & Enterprise unit, as well as a Content Researcher for the South African History Online (SAHO).

He has gained theoretical and practical research knowledge and experience in both his academic and professional careers. His research areas of interests include: political economy, development and labour, and economic & social policy.
