Ms Hlumisa Xakaza

Hlumisa Xakaza is a Senior Researcher in the Equitable Education and Economies (EEE) division at the Human Sciences Research Council. She is currently pursuing an MA. in Development Studies at the University of the Western Cape, with research focused on examining the nexus between household socioeconomic status and stunted growth recovery among post-infant and early-adolescent children in South Africa. While focused on expanding her knowledge and expertise in this area, Hlumisa holds a BSc. and an MSc. in Biological Sciences from the University of the Western Cape, and the Nelson Mandela University, respectively. Her research interests are on the crucial aspects of human development, with a particular focus on early childhood development, child malnutrition, adolescent health, and well-being. Her contribution at the HSRC has primarily been on the â??The Imprint of Educationâ? (TIE) Project, a longitudinal cohort study of Mastercard Foundation Scholars.
