Ms Aphiwe Mkhongi
PhD Research Trainee

Felicity Aphiwe Mkhongi is an emerging researcher currently working as a PhD trainee at Human Sciences Research Council, Africa Institute of Africa (AISA division). She is currently enrolled for a PhD in Geography at the University of Johannesburg. Her thesis focuses on analyzing the dynamics of deagrarianization in Vhembe District, Limpopo and Alfred Nzo District, Eastern Cape, South Africa. I also hold a Masters in Sustainable Urban Planning from the University of Johannesburg. Ms Mkhongi has made significant contributions to several research projects of the HSRC, including the National Food and Nutrition Security Survey and Sustainable Food Value Chains project. My research interests include GIS education rural development with are particular focus on food security and agriculture.
