The Human Sciences Research Council's (HSRC's) Democracy, Governance & Service Delivery (DGSD) research programme - as of 1 April 2020 the Democracy, Governance & Citizenship research stream within the Developmental, Capable & Ethical State division - initiated a study in late 2018 to understand the attitudes of school learners towards violence and the impact of involvement in civic engagement programmes on mitigating violent behaviour.
