International AIDS Conference 2024

Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC)

During 22 – 26 July, the IAS 2024 conference will convene thousands of people living with, affected by and working on HIV to share knowledge, best practices and lessons learnt from the HIV response over the past 40 years, as well as from the responses to COVID-19, and other public health threats. AIDS 2024 in Munich, Germany, will provide a powerful platform to strategically align around a unified and equitable response to the pandemic.

The HSRC has had a presence at the IAS conference since 2004 and we are proudly part of the delegation from South Africa representing the country.

Our satellite session on 24th July will bring together over 500 delegates to share the results of the latest South African National HIV Prevalence, Incidence and Behaviour Survey (SABSSM). ) SABSSM is a cross-sectional, population-based household survey designed to provide information on national and sub-national progress towards control of the HIV epidemic in South Africa.

The session will include discussants from national government, funders and key stakeholders on the global stage. We will also be screening a documentary of 20 years of the SABSSM survey series.
