Understanding absentee paternalism

The Sonke Gender Justice and the Human Sciences Research Council recently released a report stating that 36 percent of children in South Africa live in the same household as their biological father and that 35 percent of children in South Africa live in the same household with another man who’s not their biological father.

Stats SA also issued a report on fatherhood indicating that South Africa has the highest rates of absentee fathers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
