Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) is pleased to welcome a Fulbright Scholar into its educational community. Dr. Sylvester Bongani Maphosa, the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence awardee, will be working with Red Rocks Community College and University of Colorado Boulder to advance their international presence, assist in faculty and curriculum development, and diversity the educational experiences of their students, scholars, and surrounding community. He is currently the Chief Research Specialist and Head of Unit: Peace and Security at the Africa Institute of South Africa.
The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program, which is managed and funded by the United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, assists U.S. higher education institutions in expanding programs of academic exchange. By supporting non-U.S. scholars through grants for teaching at institutions that might not have a strong international component, both U.S. institutions and the scholar grantee benefit. After his arrival in August, Dr. Maphosa will be assisting both Red Rocks Community College and their Fulbright partner university, University of Colorado Boulder during their 2014-2015 academic years.
