Congratulations to Prof Tamsen Rochat DST-NRF CoE in Human Development managment committee

Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC)

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the National Research Foundation (NRF) awarded a Centre of Excellence in Human Development to the University of Witwatersrand in 2014. Like other Centres of Excellence, it was established to concentrate existing research excellence, capacity and resources to enable researchers to collaborate across disciplines and institutions on long-term projects that are locally relevant and internationally competitive in order to enhance the pursuit of research excellence and capacity development.

In 2019 the centre appointed a new management committee for the 2019-2024 term and the HSRC’s Prof Tamsen Rochat is among the emerging and established South African researchers appointed to the committee.

The committee is drawn from researchers who conduct and manage research in the broad area of human development. Their published research fits neatly within the four themes of the CoE; 1. Transformational Development 2. Intergenerational Development 3. Life Course Development 4. Socioeconomic Development.
