The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) invites you to an online Academic Writing and Publication Strategies Masterclass taking place on 12 August 2026.
The African Young Graduates and Scholars (AYGS) programme is a continental capacity-development platform for emerging African scholars, including postdoctoral fellows, PhD candidates, master’s students, and early-career researchers. The programme provides a dynamic intellectual environment for showcasing research, advancing knowledge production, fostering mentorship, engaging policymakers, and contributing to discussions on Africa’s development trajectory.
As part of its commitment to developing the capacity of young graduates and scholars, the HSRC is offering this masterclass as the first session in a five-part series designed to strengthen academic writing and publishing skills among emerging researchers.
The session will provide practical guidance on:
- Writing a well-structured and acceptable abstract;
- Developing a publishable journal article; and
- Navigating publication processes in reputable accredited journals.
This masterclass is particularly relevant to the aspirations of Agenda 2063, as it supports the development of Africa’s next generation of scholars to contribute to the continent’s growth through rigorous, innovative, and impactful research.
The session will be facilitated by Dr Nwabisa Kolisi (HSRC).
