SEMINAR | Integrating Evidence, Policy, and Stakeholder Dynamics

An evidence synthesis seminar on Engaged Research
23 July 2026
1:00-3:30 pm

The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), with support from the National Research Foundation (NRF), invites you to the Evidence Synthesis Seminar on Engaged Research on 23 July 2026.

Research plays an important role in helping to solve complex social challenges. But what do we know about engaged research in South Africa? Where is the evidence strong, and where are the gaps? How do current policies support engaged research? Who are the key people and organisations involved, and how can we strengthen collaboration more effectively?

This interactive seminar will bring together researchers, policymakers, funders, practitioners, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to explore findings from a comprehensive evidence synthesis on engaged research.

Through presentations, discussions, and a live demonstration of the new evidence map, participants will learn about the current evidence on engaged research, explore how policies and stakeholder relationships shape engaged research, and discuss opportunities to strengthen collaboration and increase the impact of research in South Africa.

Join us for this important conversation as we explore how evidence, policy, and partnerships can work together to strengthen research impact.

Please note that places are limited. Registration will close on 15 July 2026, or earlier if the maximum number of participants is reached before the closing date. We therefore encourage you to register as soon as possible to secure your place.
