HSRC staff will be spending their 67 minutes engaged in activities at the institutions in 5 cities as listed below:

CAPE TOWN

• Al Noor Orphanage is located in Woodstock, Cape Town and cares for 35 children aged between 8 and 16 years old from disadvantaged communities. The CEO will lead a team to the orphanage to play and read to the children. Staff will hand over donations of children’s books, toiletries and non-perishable food items.

• Athlone Community Centre Senior Citizens Club. Twenty five senior citizens from the disadvantaged communities of Kewtown and Bokmakierie gather at the club which is situated in Jan Smuts Drive, Athlone to do arts and crafts. Staff will visit the club to deliver donations to the Ladies Club and spend time with them.

DURBAN

• Phaphamani Crèches takes care of 117 children (girls and boys) ranging from 0 – 6 years of age in the Inanda area. Staff will visit the crèche to interact and play games with the children, deliver donations and paint the building’s new extension wall with bright colours and pictures.

PRETORIA

• St Melanie’s Day Care and Pre-school is located near the HSRC offices in Bosman Street. They have 71 children from 5 months to 6years of age. The children are from disadvantaged communities and most are from single parent homes. The DCEO Dr Masilela will lead a team to visit St Melanie’s to deliver donations and entertain the children with activities such as face painting, games, reading and art.

• Pennies Day Care and Pre-school is about four blocks from the HSRC Building on the corner of Schubart and Proes Street and also serves children from disadvantaged communities. Staff will visit Pennies to deliver donations and interact with the children.

PORT ELIZABETH

• Staff will visit the House of Resurrection Haven to deliver donations and spend time with the children.

SWEETWATERS

• The staff will visit three crèches in the community namely, Siyafunda, Sizanokuhle and Sizamelamanadi to deliver donations and spend time playing and reading to the children, gardening, and painting.
