During 2008 and 2009 the Centre for Poverty, Employment and Growth embarked on a study of different factors relating to Food Security at household level in South Africa.

Key to the study was a focus on:

• Food security indicators from official statistics 
• Small scale and subsistence agriculture and household food security 
• Food security, nutrition and targeting

In Collaboration with Agrekon (the quarterly journal of the Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa) selected papers from the research findings were compiled and published as a special edition of Agrekon on Household Food Security in South Africa; December 2009.

The Centre for Poverty, Employment and Growth together with Agrekon take the honour to invite you to the launch of this special edition, at which a selection of papers will be presented.
