CONFERENCE | International symposium on current trends in modeling and software development in data science and statistics & HIV/AIDS

The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) together with the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), University of Pretoria, and Hasselt University cordially invites you to the International Symposium on Current Trends in Modeling and Software Development in Data Science & Statistics and HIV/AIDS Conference.

This international symposium and conference brings together leading researchers, statisticians, data scientists, public health professionals, academics, and policymakers to explore emerging trends in modeling, statistical methods, and software development in data science.

The event will also feature focused scientific discussions on HIV/AIDS research in Sub-Saharan Africa, promoting evidence-based approaches and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Programme overview

Workshops & short courses (23–24 & 27 March 2026)
Participants will engage in hands-on training sessions covering:

  • Generalized Additive Models using R
  • Development of online learning resources for data analysis
  • Software tools including R, R Studio, and R Markdown
  • Digital platforms for statistical education and research dissemination

Main conference (25–26 March 2026)
The conference will include:

  • Scientific presentations on HIV/AIDS research in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Advances in statistical modeling and data science
  • Panel discussions with international experts
  • Networking and collaborative engagement opportunities
